Frequently Asked Questions about Pharmacies in Northern Cyprus

Where to buy medicines at night or on a holiday?

There are no usual 24-hour pharmacies in Northern Cyprus. However, there is an On-duty pharmacy system where you can urgently buy medicines until midnight and on weekends (but keep in mind they may close earlier, and in some places official hours are until 10 PM or even earlier). We regularly update the list of on-duty pharmacies on this page. The working hours depending on the region of Northern Cyprus can be seen here.

What are the local equivalents of common medicines in the TRNC?

For convenience, we have compiled a list of local medicines, most of which are Turkish-made, along with their Russian equivalents. The list is available on this page.

Which tourist insurances are valid in Northern Cyprus?

For many insurers, the status of Northern Cyprus, whose independence is recognized only by Turkey, is a problem. A pleasant exception is the company Tripinsurance. Another option is local insurance companies, which you can read about here.

We also recommend that you direct questions about Russian-speaking pharmacists to the special thread on the Northern Cyprus medical forum.
