100 People Participated in Dangerous Fish Catching Competition in Kyrenia

Over the weekend, the Karaoğlanoğlu Fishing Shelter hosted a competition for catching the venomous Sokan fish. Approximately 100 anglers participated in the event.

The “Sokan Fish Hunting Competition” was organized by the Karaoğlanoğlu Hunting Shooting and Fishing Association, with sponsorship from the Kyrenia Municipality. The competition was held in two categories and featured 8 licensed teams and 25 individual teams, totaling around 100 participants.

The tournament began at 5:30 AM and concluded with an award ceremony at 12:00 PM.

Among the professionals, the team from Famagusta secured first place with a catch of 11.158 kg of fish. The second place went to the team from Karaoğlanoğlu with a catch of 7.260 kg. The team from Çatalköy won the bronze with 5.604 kg. Kadir Çakır received the prize for the largest fish, weighing 0.228 kg.
