Ercan Airport Handles Over 160,000 Passengers and More Than 1,000 Flights in 10 Days
During the Ramadan holiday period, Ercan Airport experienced a major spike in traffic, welcoming 160,023 passengers and managing 1,057 flights over a 10-day stretch. The increase in activity came as a result of Turkey extending the Eid al-Fitr holiday to nine days, which led to higher volumes of both flights and travelers at the airport in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
According to TT Airport Operations, the busiest travel days began on Friday, March 28, and continued through Sunday, April 6. Over that period, the airport handled approximately 84,000 arriving and 76,023 departing passengers, as well as 529 incoming and 528 outgoing flights.
