The Agia Marina chapel in the buffer zone will be open to visitors for one day
The Agia Marina chapel in the buffer zone of Famagusta will be open for visits on Green Monday. Public access to the church has been granted by the United Nations Organization.
“The chapel will be open for pilgrimage, and visitors will have the opportunity to rejoice and enjoy the enchanting nature against the backdrop of Famagusta,” said the municipality of Deryneia in a statement.
Green Monday, or the first day of Lent, is celebrated this year in Cyprus on March 18th. It is a movable feast that depends on the date of Easter. In Cyprus, it is celebrated with outings to nature and fasting picnics.
On the holiday, Monday, March 18th, the Agia Marina chapel will be open for visits from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
