Passenger Numbers at the New Ercan Airport Surge by More Than a Quarter
In the first seven months of 2024, passenger numbers at Ercan Airport increased by 25.88%, and the number of flights grew by 15.52%.
According to a statement from the managing company T&T Airport Management, the old Ercan Airport handled 14,467 flights from January to July 2023. Following the opening of the new Ercan Airport, this figure rose to 16,713 flights during the same period in 2024.
In terms of passengers, the old airport served 2,071,874 passengers from January to July 2023. With the new airport in operation, this number increased to 2,608,007 passengers from January to July 2024.
July was the peak month for passenger traffic at Ercan Airport. In July 2023, the airport welcomed 367,393 passengers.
In 2024, July again led in passenger traffic, with 426,060 passengers arriving and departing from Ercan Airport.
