Road Death Toll in Northern Cyprus Reaches 16 Since the Start of the Year
The number of road traffic fatalities in Northern Cyprus continues to rise, with the latest victim a man who died in hospital after a motorcycle crash.
According to police, the accident took place on March 28 in Esentepe. Mustafa Kemal Batıbeniz, 44, was riding his motorcycle northbound along Cumhuriyet Street when he lost control while navigating a bend and overturned, landing on the right side of the bike.
He was initially taken to Nicosia State Hospital for treatment, but later chose to transfer himself to Near East Hospital, where he was placed under observation in the intensive care unit.
Tragically, he passed away yesterday afternoon. The exact cause of death will be confirmed following an autopsy.
