Inflation in Northern Cyprus reached 3.17% in July — food and services continue to get more expensive
In July 2025, the inflation rate in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus stood at 3.17% compared to the previous month, according to the country’s Statistical Office. Compared to December of the previous year, price growth reached 21.52%, and on an annual basis, inflation was 35.33%.
The largest price increases in July were observed in restaurant and hotel services — up by 13.32%. Significant price rises were also recorded for alcoholic beverages and tobacco products (+5.04%), medical services (+4.61%), and transport (+3.01%). Price increases also affected the communication sector, household goods, utilities, culture, education, and food products.
The only category where prices decreased was clothing and footwear (–0.44%).
Among individual goods, the highest price increases were recorded for beans (+96.43%), cucumbers (+87.25%), and red cabbage (+63.73%). At the same time, noticeable price drops were seen in eggplants (–48.46%), plums (–38.28%), and melons (–38.06%).
For comparison, in June 2025 inflation was 1.42% monthly and 35.78% annually. Thus, July showed a sharp acceleration in price growth rates.
