Outdoor Work Ban Reimposed in TRNC Due to Extreme Heat

Due to the extreme heat that has persisted in Northern Cyprus for the second week, the country has once again imposed a ban on outdoor work. The restriction will be in effect for the next two days.

The TRNC Ministry of Labor and Social Protection has issued a new directive to protect workers who are constantly exposed to the scorching sun while working outside.

The ministry has prohibited outdoor work from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Thursday, June 13th, and Friday, June 14th.

This decision was made based on the Department of Meteorology's forecast that air temperatures will remain significantly above seasonal norms in the coming days.

During the ban, the start time for agricultural and construction work outside residential areas can be determined by the employer.

An early start may be applied for the transportation of construction materials and equipment to the work site.

It is worth noting that the extremely hot weather has persisted in Northern Cyprus for the second week, breaking several temperature records. Last week, due to the excessively high temperatures, TRNC also imposed a three-day ban on working under the sun and established a special hotline to report violators.

Moreover, several major forest fires occurred in TRNC last week due to the hot weather.

In the coming days, an even greater increase in temperature is expected.
