Due to rain, there were problems with landing and takeoff of airplanes at Ercan Airport
Due to heavy rainfall on Tuesday, April 9, in Northern Cyprus, two flights could not land at Ercan Airport. There are problems with landing and takeoff of airplanes at the airfield.
According to information from the flightradar24 portal, due to poor weather conditions at the new TRNC airport, flights VF555 from Ankara by AJet and PC711 from Adana by Pegasus Airlines could not land. Both planes were redirected to Adana Airport. Also, another flight from Adana (AJet) landed with a delay.
Moreover, throughout the day, there were delays in flights departing to Istanbul, Adana, and Diyarbakir.
According to Mustafa Sofi, the director of the Civil Aviation Department, the situation has now normalized, and takeoffs and landings at Ercan Airport are being carried out according to schedule.
It is worth reminding that due to heavy rainfall in Kyrenia, Lapta, and Alsancak, several houses and streets were flooded.
