Hasan Essendagli re-elected as President of the Turkish-Cypriot Lawyers' Association

The 17th regular General Assembly of the Turkish-Cypriot Lawyers' Association took place. The union members re-elected Hasan Essendagli as president.

About 400 lawyers attended the event, which took place at the Cultural Center of Rauf Denktas University. The meeting began with an introductory speech by the president of the 16th Council term, Hasan Essendagli.

The head of the association thanked the lawyers present at the meeting and emphasized that the union "draws its strength from the work and unity of lawyers who conscientiously perform their profession."

Hasan Essendagli noted that one of the most important steps taken last year was amending the Law on Lawyers.

The association's head reminded that all lawyers are obligated to defend the profession and uphold the law to prevent public dissatisfaction with legal proceedings conducted by unauthorized individuals.

After reading out messages addressed to the assembly by the President of the Republic, the Speaker of the Republican Assembly, the President of the Supreme Court, the Attorney General, the Prime Minister, the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey, the Chairman of the main opposition, the Medical Association, and the Union of Chambers of Engineers and Architects, a council was formed, and the financial report of the union was read and adopted.

Moreover, at the meeting, during which elections for members of the Presidium, Council of Lawyers, Disciplinary Council, and Supreme Court Council were held, Hasan Essendagli was unanimously re-elected as President of the Association.

The members of the Council of Lawyers were determined as lawyer Ozgu Ozjigit, lawyer Chagyl Ozsoy, and lawyer Nurettin Karagyozly.

The members of the Disciplinary Council were elected as lawyer Ozkul Ozjigit, lawyer Suleyman Dolmaci, lawyer Hussein Izveren, lawyer Ezer Ozsoy, and lawyer Uygar Kalmaz, with reserve members being lawyer Zehra Delibash, lawyer Tyulin Alpagut, and lawyer Mehtun Muslu.
