Cyprus-Turkish Red Crescent Participates in International Conference in Geneva
The Cyprus-Turkish Red Crescent took part in the 34th International Conference of the Red Cross and Red Crescent held in Geneva. The delegation from Cyprus-Turkish Red Crescent connected with representatives from 177 countries to discuss humanitarian aid, disaster response, and capacity building.
According to a statement from the Cyprus-Turkish Red Crescent, the organization’s staff attended the conference to formulate concrete solutions to global humanitarian challenges and explore new opportunities for collaboration with representatives of Red Cross and Red Crescent societies from across the 177 participating countries.
As an observer member of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), which is the world’s largest humanitarian network, the Cyprus-Turkish Red Crescent aimed to strengthen solidarity and enhance its capacity for providing assistance on a global scale.
The TRNC delegation held discussions with presidents and representatives from Red Crescent and Red Cross associations in countries including Turkey, Pakistan, Guinea, Algeria, Nigeria, Chad, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Libya, Iraq, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, China, and Russia.
"We established important connections in collaboration with Red Cross and Red Crescent associations worldwide to boost our humanitarian aid capacity, provide sustainable support, and contribute to shared humanitarian goals. We take pride in enhancing our recognition on the international stage as an observer member and in representing our country’s vision for humanitarian assistance," stated the delegation following the forum.
