The Committee on Missing Persons is conducting excavations at eight locations in Cyprus
The Committee on Missing Persons continues excavations at seven sites in the territory of the TRNC and at one site in Southern Cyprus; as of September 8, 2025, no human remains have been found in the excavations. This was reported by the newspaper Haravgi, citing the Cyprus News Agency KYPE.
According to the publication, work did not stop during the summer: in August, four teams were involved, and since September the work has been carried out "in full force" — eight teams. In the TRNC territory, excavations are taking place in Pashaköy, Mehmetçik, Düzova, Gönyeli, Yukarı Dikmen and Kömürcü; in Southern Cyprus — in the Engomi area.
For residents and relatives, this means that temporary access restrictions and the operation of heavy machinery may be in place in the specified areas. The official bodies have not announced deadlines for the completion of the work or potential findings; the newspaper notes that the search continues. It is recommended to follow official announcements from the Committee and local authorities, avoid approaching fenced-off areas, and respect the instructions of exhumation teams.
