TÜRKSOY Museum Coordinators to Meet in the TRNC

International coordinators from the TÜRKSOY Museum Association will gather in Northern Cyprus for a seminar organized by the International Organization of Turkic Culture. The event will take place in Girne on April 8–9.

The seminar will be attended by coordinators from Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Gagauzia, all invited by the Department of Antiquities and Museums of the TRNC. The event aims to promote the exchange of experiences and foster closer collaboration within the field of museum studies across the Turkic world.

As part of the program, participants will have the opportunity to view the documentary On the Edge of Freedom and an archival exhibition titled Cyprus in Documents, which will provide insight into the island’s recent history. Both events will be held on Monday, April 7, at 8:00 PM at the Acapulco Resort Convention Spa Hotel.

On Tuesday, April 8, at 9:30 AM, the 2nd International Art Museums Festival will take place. This festival is jointly organized with the National Archives and Research Department, the Department of Antiquities and Museums, the Turkish Cultural Heritage Protection and Research Association, and the Alashia terracotta art group. This will be followed by the opening of the International Symposium on the Protection and Study of Cultural Heritage, and the main museum sessions will follow shortly after.

That evening at 6:00 PM, the Museum of Cypriot Doors and Chests will be inaugurated under the guidance of the First Lady of the TRNC, Sibel Tatar.

On Wednesday, April 9, the program will continue with a brass band performance in Namık Kemal Square in Famagusta, followed by a visit to a local museum. The final event of the seminar will take place later that evening at 8:00 PM at the Acapulco Resort Convention Spa Hotel.
