President Ersin Tatar participated in the opening ceremony of the International Conference on Water Resources and the Environment held at the Near East University. During his speech, the leader of the Turkish Cypriots stated that the north is "ready to share water if the need arises."

The Head of Northern Cyprus emphasized the importance of the water delivery project from Turkey and added that "population growth and other events" have led Cyprus to a situation where water needs to be used more efficiently.

"Expectations of greater prosperity due to population growth and needs are putting pressure on our resources. We must act, utilizing technological advantages to save and be more efficient," said the Head of Northern Cyprus, as reported by his press service.

Ersin Tatar also discussed the planned construction of an electric cable that will connect Turkey and the TRNC.

The leader of the Turkish Cypriots noted that a proposal was made to the Cyprus-Greek side to "participate in an interconnected system that will connect the north to the European Union's energy system through Turkey," stating that such a plan is "safer and cheaper" than other plans for interconnection.

Ersin Tatar also mentioned that proposals to reduce environmental impact were presented at international meetings, but no steps have been taken.

The President emphasized the need to take significant measures to ensure sustainability and environmental protection in water and energy matters.

"Such steps are costly and challenging, but we are obligated to protect the island of Cyprus and leave it to future generations in a better condition than we found it," said Ersin Tatar.
