Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar denied reports that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had invited the head of the administration of Greek Cypriots, Nicos Christodoulides, to Turkey. The head of the TRNC announced this to the media after his sudden trip to Istanbul for a meeting with the Turkish leader.

Responding to journalists' questions after the talks, Ersin Tatar emphasized that Recep Tayyip Erdogan categorically denied information about the invitation of Nicos Christodoulides to Turkey.

"There was no such invitation. I don't think such a meeting is possible," emphasized the President of the TRNC.

Recall that an unexpected meeting between the President of Turkey and the head of Northern Cyprus took place last Sunday.

The visit of the TRNC leader to Turkey was not announced in advance, and the details of the negotiations were not disclosed.

It is known that at the meeting in the presidential office at the Dolmabahce Palace, Vice President of Turkey Jevdet Yılmaz and Prime Minister of the TRNC Ersin Tatar were also present.

The meeting was not known until Ersin Tatar himself published a video in which he is depicted next to the Turkish leader.

Following the meeting, Ersin Tatar stated that it was very productive, noting that the Cyprus problem was discussed but "did not dominate the agenda."

The parties also discussed the construction of an electric cable that will connect Turkey to the TRNC. Recall that the project is planned to be completed in five years.
