Cyprus Community Leaders to Meet Again Before UN Official's Visit
The leader of the Turkish Cypriots, Ersin Tatar, and the head of the Greek Cypriot administration, Nikos Christodoulides, will hold preparatory talks ahead of the upcoming visit to Cyprus by Rosemary DiCarlo, the UN Deputy Secretary-General for Peacebuilding.
According to CyBC, Rosemary DiCarlo is scheduled to arrive on February 10 and will meet separately with the leaders of both communities. The preparatory meeting is expected to take place on either February 7 or February 8.
The key topics of discussion will include the opening of new crossing points and other initiatives aimed at building trust between the two communities.
It has also been reported that Ersin Tatar, the President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, will meet with Rosemary DiCarlo on February 10.
Last week, the two community leaders met at the residence of Colin Stewart, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Cyprus and Head of the UN Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus, located in the buffer zone.
On Thursday, February 1, Colin Stewart is expected to meet with the negotiators from both sides, and on Friday, he will hold discussions with Nikos Christodoulides to arrange the date for the meeting between Ersin Tatar and Rosemary DiCarlo.
