Mayor of Girne Shares Update on Bellapais Abbey Revitalization
Girne Mayor Murat Şenkul has announced that the revitalization project at Bellapais Abbey is quickly approaching completion.
As part of the project, all advertising signs, gazebos, and flowerbeds have been removed from Bellapais village square. Uneven ground has been leveled, with stairways added to improve accessibility. Authorities have also repurposed previously undefined areas for public use, demolished illegal structures, and restored abandoned spaces.
The mayor highlighted that these efforts have made the already magnificent Bellapais Abbey “even more inviting.”
Şenkul also shared that road paving work for the village entrance will commence today, marking one of the final steps in the project.
“Once we install the new street furniture and plant flowers around the two large trees in the square, the area will be fully ready to welcome guests,” Şenkul wrote in a statement.
