UK Minister for Europe Stephen Doughty is set to arrive in Cyprus this Friday for meetings with the island’s two community leaders.

According to the Cyprus News Agency, Doughty’s itinerary includes separate meetings with Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar, President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides, Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos, Deputy Minister for European Affairs Marilena Raouna, and leaders of several political parties from both sides of the island.

The visit is part of preparations for the upcoming Geneva talks on March 17.

Earlier, the United Nations Secretary-General’s Office contacted both Cypriot leaders to inform them about an informal "5+1" conference, with both sides having now received official invitations.

The summit will take place at the Palace of Nations in Geneva, starting at noon on March 17 and concluding the following evening. It will bring together the leaders of both Cypriot communities, along with representatives of the island’s three guarantor powers—Greece, Turkey, and the United Kingdom—as well as the United Nations.
