Bulldozers Spotted on Turtle Beach in Lapta
The municipality of Lapta-Alsancak-Chamlıbel is conducting work using bulldozers on the beach in Güzelyalı, Karşıyaka. This place is known for being where turtles lay their eggs in the summer.
Former President of the Association of Biologists, Hasan Sarpten, drew attention to the situation at this popular bathing spot.
"They first destroyed one of the most beautiful natural beaches with breakwaters and similar interventions, and now they are trying to build a beach by dumping sand with the help of a bulldozer brought in from other places. This is how they are destroying the country," wrote the disgruntled scientist.
According to the activist, the Environmental Protection Agency, which is responsible for the turtle conservation project here, does not react to the municipality's actions.
Recall that this same specialist previously reacted to the situation in the village of Tepebaşı,where a huge ancient pine tree was cut down with the approval of the Forestry Department.
