At the roundabout in Güzelyurt, a whole truck of oranges was spilled
The Cyprus-Turkish Association of Citrus Importers and Exporters held a demonstration at the terminal roundabout in Güzelyurt. During the protests, a whole truckload of citrus was spilled onto the road, and a bonfire was lit.
The major action took place in the Güzelyurt area. The organizers of the action began with a warning to the government to draw attention to the issue of citrus production and exports.
In his speech, the president of the Cyprus-Turkish Association of Citrus Exporters, Feti Bardakçıoğlu, mentioned a recent meeting held in Turkey with the Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Hüseyin Çavuş, and Kemal Redif, the general manager of Cypfruvex İşletmecilik Ltd.
During the meeting with the Vice President of the Republic of Turkey, Cevdet Yılmaz, and the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry of Turkey, Ibrahim Yumaklı, the general manager of Cypfruvex İşletmecilik Ltd., Cemal Redif, stated that during the meeting, he called all exporters and informed them that two companies purchased a total of 15 thousand tons of products, and they paid all producers for the goods they purchased. According to the union leader, this information does not correspond to reality.
The action was also supported by the Deputy from the Republican Party of Turkey (CTP), Erkut Şahali. He noted that exporters are experiencing difficulties in the citrus sector, which is the lifeblood of Güzelyurt's economy.
