Drone Ban in Northern Cyprus for Four Days
In Northern Cyprus, all drone flights and aerial sports are prohibited for the next four days during the celebrations of Peace and Freedom Day.
According to a statement from the Department of Civil Aviation of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport of the TRNC, the ban on drone flights and aerial sports, except for special permissions, will be in effect from 05:45 on Wednesday, July 17th, until 19:59 on Saturday, July 20th.
The restriction is due to an upcoming airshow featuring the Turkish Stars as part of the Peace and Freedom Day celebrations on July 20th. The aviation authorities notified pilots of the ban through a NOTAM published by SHD on July 15, 2024.
Previously announced events include a parade commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation in the TRNC, which will feature 50 ships led by the Turkish amphibious assault ship TCG Anadolu.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is expected to attend the celebrations in the TRNC and deliver a speech at the Assembly of the Republic.
