With the arrival of winter months and cooling sea temperatures, the migration season for sea turtles has commenced in Northern Cyprus. Annually, these reptiles cover an average distance of 15,000 kilometers.

According to the Merita Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Center, as the cold season approaches, turtles migrate to warmer regions for feeding, reproduction, and wintering.

It is emphasized that all the information obtained about sea turtles is of great significance for the conservation of their species.

The center also reports that two green sea turtles, Magnolia and Jumhuriyet, aged between 8 and 10 years, were recently released by rescuers into their natural habitat after rehabilitation at the Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Center.

Magnolia, found by Ergun Agdjabay, and Jumhuriyet, found by Lokman Kahveci, were brought to the center due to issues with their movement in the sea. With the onset of the migration season, both turtles were set free.
