In Northern Cyprus, the first fruit and vegetable drying facility has opened

The first fruit and vegetable drying facility has opened in the village of Yeşilyurt in the Lefke region of Northern Cyprus.

The opening ceremony of the country's first fruit and vegetable drying facility took place yesterday. The event was attended by the wife of the TRNC president, Sibel Tatar, the wife of the Turkish ambassador to Nicosia, Metin Feyzioğlu, the Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Hüseyin Çavuş, the Minister of Economy and Energy, Ölgün Amdjaoglu, the Governor of the Lefke region, Sadi Güneş, the Mayor of Lefke, Aziz Kaya, as well as officials and local residents.

At the facility, established within the framework of the country's first Women's Cooperative for Rural Development (4K KOOP), with the support of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), mandarins, oranges, strawberries, and bananas will be dried and packaged. The finished products are considered a healthy snack without the use of additives.

The facility will also dry traditional products such as tarhana, molokhia, and noodles. The facility, costing 45,000 euros, will operate on solar energy.
