Unions Continue Strikes in Northern Cyprus
On Monday, December 9, protests organized by union groups continue in Northern Cyprus. After Friday’s strike outside the Prime Minister’s office, protesters are now set to gather in front of the Ministry of Finance building.
This time, 27 unions will participate in the protest. Union leaders are calling for collective action against the government's efforts to change the method of calculating the minimum living wage and to restrict the right to collective bargaining.
"This is not just the fight of the unions, but the fight of all the people. We must unite for our future," said Burak Maviş, General Secretary of the Turkish Cypriot Teachers' Union (KTÖS).
The protest will begin in front of the Ministry of Finance building at 13:30 today.
