In the TRNC, the strike of parliament stenographers organized by the Union of Turkish Cypriot Public Servants (KTAMS) continues for the fifth day.

KTAMS President Gyven Bengihan noted that the strike has been ongoing for the fifth day due to the “insensitive attitude of the speaker and the secretary-general of the parliament” towards the protesting employees.

Recall that the strike of parliament stenographers was announced last week.

The reason for the protest action was that "some stenographers were granted privileges and benefits.”

In his written statement, KTAMS President Gyven Bengihan stated that despite all attempts to find a solution to the problems of the stenographers working in the parliament and the warning strike, no results have been achieved.

Since there was no positive response from the president and the secretary-general of the Republican Assembly, the strike that started last Wednesday has been ongoing for the fifth day now.

“We will continue the strike until the problem is resolved,” said KTAMS Chairman Gyven Bengihan.
