The First Angels Champions Cup in Volleyball will be played in Northern Cyprus
Today, the 1st Angels Champions Cup will be played in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). The commemorative championship will take place at the Famagusta Arena sports hall.
The competition is part of the 2023-2024 season program organized by the TRNC Volleyball Federation.
The Angels Champions Cup, organized in memory of the children's volleyball team who died during the earthquake in Turkey on February 6, will be played for the first time this year. The tournament will be held in the categories of girls under 16 and boys under 17.
The "Champion Angels" refer to the members of the teenage volleyball team from Famagusta who died in the earthquake in Turkey on February 6. The bodies of 34 people were recovered from the rubble.
Young male and female athletes aged 12-14, their parents, and several teachers arrived for the volleyball tournament in Adıyaman a couple of days before the tragedy. Only four parents and the deputy director of the educational institution survived the earthquake.
