New Governors Appointed in Two Districts of Northern Cyprus
Northern Cyprus has seen another round of administrative changes, with new governors appointed for Lefke and Güzelyurt, as well as a leadership change at the Department of Planning and Projects.
According to the Official Gazette, Mehmet Kayan, formerly the head of the Ministry of Interior’s Department of Planning and Projects, has been relieved of his duties and reassigned as the governor of Güzelyurt.
At the same time, Arkın Şansalan has been appointed as the new head of the Department of Planning and Projects.
Meanwhile, Cemal Orakçıoğlu has been named governor of Lefke, with the stipulation that he may be dismissed at any time without explanation.
The appointments were signed by Minister of Interior Dursun Oğuz, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, and TRNC President Ersin Tatar.
The document does not specify what happened to the previous governor of Lefke.
