The Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources and the Department of Agriculture of the TRNC have announced the start of a campaign to combat mice and rats. The fight against rodents, which cause damage to agricultural products and can transmit various dangerous diseases to humans and agricultural animals, will begin from today.

In a written statement from the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources of the country, it is noted that the "Rat Control Campaign" will be conducted at least twice a year.

As part of the campaign, rat poisons will be distributed free of charge to all villages. They will be handed over to the district agricultural administrations of Akdoğan, Famagusta, Geçitkale, Kyrenia, Güzelürt, İskele, Lefke, Nicosia, Mehmetçik, and Yenierenköy.

The statement urges producers to use rat poisons as intended, observing all safety measures and not causing harm to the environment. Rat poisons should be placed in places inaccessible to children and animals, such as tree hollows or other protected areas.

The statement also notes that protecting the natural enemies of mice and rats will also help in the fight against rodents, which include black snakes, certain species of owls, and foxes.
