On Northern Cyprus, the minimum wage will be reconsidered once again
The Ministry of Labor and Social Security has announced that the Commission for Determining the Minimum Wage will convene for a review.
In a written statement, the ministry indicated that the meeting will take place on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at 09:00 in the meeting room of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection. It is noted that on November 9, the Federation of Free Trade Unions (Hür-İş) officially requested the Ministry of Labor and Social Security to convene the Commission for Determining the Minimum Wage.
Recall that on July 12, the new minimum wage in Northern Cyprus was set at 18,103 Turkish liras (before deducting all taxes). The final amount to be paid is 15,750 Turkish liras. This decision has been contested several times by trade unions but remains unchanged.
Before this increase, as of January 1, 2023, the minimum wage in Northern Cyprus was 13,563 Turkish liras (before deducting all fees). After deducting all taxes, employees received a minimum of 11,800 TL.
