Giant Sea Turtle to Be Released Back into the Sea in Northern Cyprus
A giant sea turtle that had been receiving treatment at the Taşkent Nature Park in Northern Cyprus is now ready to return to the sea—and everyone is invited to witness the release.
The announcement was made on Taşkent Doğa Parkı’s social media page.
“We’re excited to invite you to the release of a magnificent green sea turtle, finally ready to return to the sea after a long and challenging journey!” the post read.
The massive green sea turtle, weighing over 105 kilograms, was found washed ashore and in urgent need of medical care. The park’s rehabilitation team provided intensive treatment and support throughout its recovery.
“It’s been an incredible journey—from emergency medical treatment and regular check-ups to the careful lifting, transportation, and weighing of this ocean giant. Thanks to our team’s relentless dedication, this amazing creature is finally ready to go home,” the park said.
The turtle release event will take place on Sunday, May 11, at 11:00 AM, on the Güzelyalı coast.
