In Northern Cyprus, Women Live Longer Than in Europe
According to data published by the Statistical Institute of the TRNC on International Women's Day on March 8th, women in Northern Cyprus live longer than in the rest of the world and in Europe.
An analysis of life expectancy at birth across the TRNC shows that there was a decrease until 2021, but this indicator increased in 2022.
Furthermore, according to statistics, women in Northern Cyprus live longer than men. In 2022, life expectancy at birth was 79.4 years for men and 83.2 years for women.
According to the UN, as of 2022, life expectancy at birth worldwide is 71.7 years: 69.1 years for men and 74.4 years for women, and in the 27 EU member states, it is 77.3 years for men and 82.8 years for women.
