Fuel Tanker Overturns on the İskele-Ercan Highway
A fuel tanker overturned on the İskele-Ercan highway, forcing authorities to close the road in both directions. The driver sustained injuries in the accident.
According to the police press office, the accident occurred at approximately 10:45 AM today. The driver, Ahmet Karaaslan, was traveling along the İskele-Lefkoşa main road towards Nicosia when he lost control of the vehicle, veered into the opposite lane, and overturned.
Emergency responders transported the injured driver to Famagusta State Hospital for treatment.
Due to the fuel spill and the ongoing tanker evacuation, traffic was completely halted in both directions. Authorities diverted vehicles through the village of Göndere to ease congestion.
An investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
