An automatic meteorological observation system will be installed on the Ercan runway
The director of the TRNC Meteorology Department, Sinan Güneş, and his accompanying delegation visited the Main Directorate of Meteorology of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change of the Republic of Turkey. The meeting in Ankara discussed expanding cooperation between the two institutions.
Following the visit, Sinan Güneş reported that automatic meteorological observation systems had arrived in Northern Cyprus, which will be placed around the new runway at Erjan Airport. The installation and activation of the equipment will be completed within one and a half months.
The meeting also discussed accelerating data exchange between the two institutions, updating technical infrastructure and systems, modernizing infrastructure, and inviting employees of the TRNC Meteorology Department to training programs organized in Turkey.
It is expected that in the near future, a technical delegation from the Main Directorate of Meteorology of Turkey will visit the TRNC for a return visit. A cooperation protocol will be signed based on the joint work.
