A new hospital in Kyrenia will be put into operation by the end of the year
The Prime Minister of the TRNC, Ünal Üstel, inspected the construction of the new hospital in Kyrenia. The medical facility is planned to be operational by the end of the year.
Along with the Prime Minister, the current works were also inspected by the Minister of Finance, Ozdemir Berova, the Minister of Health, Hakan Dinçyürek, and several other relevant officials.
In his press statement after the site inspection, the Prime Minister reminded that the current hospital in Kyrenia was built in 1974. Due to the rapid population growth in the tourist region, the medical facility cannot cope with the existing workload.
To provide higher quality and more modern services to the population, it was decided to build a new hospital.
The construction is being carried out in cooperation with the Republic of Turkey. According to the information obtained during the inspection from contractors and builders, the building is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
In the basement of the hospital, there will be 5 operating rooms and 12 dialysis units, accommodating 114 beds.
It is expected that with the operation of the new medical facility in Kyrenia, the burden on the state hospital named after Burhan Nalbantoğlu in Nicosia will also decrease.
Ünal Üstel also added that the tender for the construction of a hospital in Güzelburç will be held in the coming months. Moreover, due to the rapid population growth, there is a lack of medical centers in the Alsancak, Lapta, and Karşıyaka regions. Medical centers are also planned to be built in these areas.
