December Inflation Rate Announced in Northern Cyprus
The Statistics Institute of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) has released the latest inflation figures for the country. In December, inflation was recorded at 1.10%, while the annual inflation rate reached an alarming 53.29%.
According to the data, the largest monthly price increase was in the "Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages" category, which rose by 2.49%. Other significant increases were seen in "Miscellaneous Goods and Services" (up 2.23%), "Clothing and Footwear" (up 2.03%), and "Restaurants and Hotels" (up 1.42%). Prices in "Furniture, Household Appliances, and Home Maintenance Services" and "Healthcare" increased by 1.08%. For all other categories, price increases were below 1%.
Among individual items, the top three with the highest price hikes in December were zucchini, which skyrocketed by 171.22%, followed by artichokes at 154.38%, and eggplants, up 107.87%.
Conversely, the steepest price drops were recorded for parsley (-36.42%), cauliflower (-35.94%), and broccoli (-35.81%).
