Before Valentine's Day, flowers became more expensive in Northern Cyprus
As February 14th - Valentine's Day or the Day of All Lovers - approaches, the prices of flowers and balloons have sharply increased in Northern Cyprus. Due to high demand, the cost of roses has nearly doubled before the holiday.
According to research by Kibris Postasi, this year the average price of one red rose has reached 130 TL. For comparison, the same flowers were sold for 70 TL each before New Year's Eve. A bouquet of seven red roses in a vase will cost 900 TL.
The cost of a composition of 11 pink roses reaches 1120 TL in flower shops. Five red roses and one orchid branch will cost 1380 TL. Ten chamomiles and three red roses, symbols of love, cost 1152 Turkish lira.
At the same time, a special Valentine's Day gift set, which includes three roses, nine chamomiles, one bottle of wine, and a small plush toy, will cost an average of 1300 TL.
A huge bouquet of 50 roses with personalized initials costs 5,520 TL.
It is also noted that a dinner for two in a restaurant on Valentine's Day will cost at least a thousand Turkish lira per person.
