Almost 250 birds burned alive during a fire in Hamitköy
In Northern Cyprus, as a result of a fire in the village of Hamitköy, nearly 250 canaries perished in the flames.
According to the police press service, the fire occurred yesterday around noon, at approximately 14:00, in a poultry house located in the backyard of a house in Hamitköy. Preliminary information suggests that the fire broke out due to a short circuit in the electrical wiring.
The fire was extinguished by the efforts of the fire brigade. As a result of the blaze, 30 bird cages located on the roof of the poultry house were damaged. 247 canaries housed in the cages burned alive.
The causes of the fire are being investigated by fire investigators and police officers.
