July "Hunger Limit" Calculated for Northern Cyprus
The Cyprus Turkish Civil Servants Union (KTAMS) has announced that the hunger threshold for a family of four as of July 31 stands at 26,191 TL.
According to the union's research, the essential expenses for a healthy diet are as follows:
- For an adult man: 234.45 TL per day, 7,033.50 TL per month.
- For an adult woman: 224.37 TL per day, 6,731.11 TL per month.
- For a child aged 15–19: 248.37 TL per day, 7,451.10 TL per month.
- For a child aged 4–6: 165.83 TL per day, 4,974.90 TL per month.
“Thus, the total daily mandatory food expenses for a family of four in July amounted to 873 Turkish Lira, and the monthly expenses to 26,191 TL,” stated KTAMS.
The report was prepared by the Inpatient Treatment Institutions Department of the TRNC Ministry of Health, based on the nutrition scheme required for a family of four and the cost of the products in this scheme. The Statistical Institute of the TRNC provided the price analysis to the union.
It's worth noting that the Statistical Institute of the TRNC previously announced aJune inflation rate of 3.51%. Since the beginning of the year, prices have increased by 37.65%, with annual inflation at 72.51%. In June, the hunger threshold in Northern Cyprus was 25,770 Turkish Lira.
