The "hunger limit" for March has been calculated in Northern Cyprus
The Cyprus and Turkey Civil Servants Union (KTAMS) announced that the hunger threshold for a family of four as of March 31st is 23,644 Turkish Lira.
According to the union's research, mandatory expenses for healthy nutrition are as follows:
For an adult man—212.09 TL per day, 6362.70 TL per month
For an adult woman—202.63 TL per day, 6078.90 TL per month
For a child aged 15-19—224.58 TL per day, 6737.40 TL per month
For a child aged 4-6—148.84 TL per day, 4465.20 TL per month
“Thus, the monthly expenses for food that a family of four must pay to have a healthy, balanced, and adequate diet amount to 23,644 Turkish Lira,” said KTAMS in a statement.
The report was prepared by the Department of Inpatient Health Facilities of the TRNC Ministry of Health. The report took into account the dietary scheme necessary for the healthy nutrition of a family of four and the cost of products from this scheme. Price analysis was provided to the union by the TRNC Statistical Institute.
It is worth reminding that according to official data from the Statistical Institute, inflation in the country was 3.84% in January 2024, 4.59% in February, and 6.91% in March. Over three months, total inflation reached 16.11%. Annual inflation stood at 94.45%.
