Inflation Rate in the TRNC for July Announced
The Statistical Institute of the TRNC has announced the inflation rate for July. It was 3.51% for the month, 37.65% from January to July, and 72.51% compared to the same month last year.
According to the data, the largest increase among major expense categories compared to the previous month was in the “Communication” group, which saw a rise of 15.11%. This was followed by “Miscellaneous Goods and Services” at 7.12%, “Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco” at 6.04%, and “Restaurants and Hotels” at 5.34%. Overall, entertainment costs increased by 5.05%, while food and non-food items rose by 3.39%.
Compared to the previous month, prices increased for 503 items included in the index, while 67 items became cheaper.
The biggest price increases were observed for newspapers and magazines (163.64%), parsley (93.97%), and red cabbage (91.61%).
On the other hand, prices decreased the most for melon (40.90%), eggplant (40.30%), and fresh okra (25.18%).
