TRNC Police Detain 742 Offenders in Coordinated Operations Across Three Regions
The police in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) recently conducted simultaneous checks in three regions. During operations in the districts of Famagusta, Kyrenia, and Guzelyurt, a total of 742 offenders were identified, and six individuals were arrested.
According to the police press office, the inspections targeted a variety of establishments, including entertainment venues, bars, cafes, nightclubs, casinos, betting shops, and other public gathering spots. Extensive checks were also carried out on the country's roads.
During the casino inspections, 55 individuals who were banned from entering gambling establishments were found. In addition, five people were arrested for residing in the TRNC without a valid residence permit or legal status.
As part of the road checks, police examined 3,969 drivers. Of those, 682 drivers were detained for various traffic violations, and appropriate measures were taken.
Twenty-three vehicles were prohibited from continuing their journey, and one driver was arrested.
Speeding was once again the most common offense, with 270 cases recorded. Additionally, seven drivers were found operating vehicles while under the influence of alcohol.
