TRNC Police Urge Public to Refrain from Using Firearms During New Year Celebrations
The General Directorate of Police (PGM) has issued a stern warning to the public against the use of firearms during New Year’s festivities, emphasizing that offenders will face severe legal consequences, including prison sentences ranging from 7 to 10 years.
In the statement, the police underscored their "zero-tolerance policy" towards such actions, affirming that any individuals involved in firearm-related offenses will be identified and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
The PGM further highlighted that "resorting to firearms is a reflection of an outdated mentality and a lack of societal progress."
The statement also drew attention to the dangers posed by discharging firearms in residential areas, particularly in multi-story buildings, where such actions can cause harm to residents and bystanders.
