From December 21 to 25, the Week of National Struggle and Martyrs will take place in Northern Cyprus. On the occasion of the beginning of these memorial days, the leader of the Turkish Cypriots, Ersin Tatar, addressed the nation.

"As we enter the Week of Struggle and Martyrs, I remember all our martyrs with compassion and extend our gratitude to our veterans," said the president in his message.

The Head of Northern Cyprus recalled how the mujahideen, under the leadership of the Turkish resistance organization, heroically resisted Greek attacks "60 years ago with the aim of destroying Turkish Cypriots and turning Cyprus into a Hellenic country." They prevented the annexation of the island to Greece while preserving the Turkish presence in Cyprus.

"Thanks to the struggle for existence and freedom, Turkish Cypriots gained independence and sovereignty and established their state with the support of Turkey. Our commitment to our martyrs and veterans is our duty to future generations," concluded the Head of Northern Cyprus.

Additionally, President Ersin Tatar attended a dinner for the families of mujahideen and martyrs, organized by the Chief of Security Forces, Major General Osman Aytaç, on the occasion of the Martyrs' Week on December 21.

It is worth noting that the program for the Week of National Struggle and Martyrs has been previously published. During these days, the TRNC will honor the memory of those who became martyrs in the struggle for the existence and freedom of Turkish Cypriots. Ceremonies will take place in Nicosia and other cities in Northern Cyprus.
