The President of the TRNC, Ersin Tatar, had a Skype call with Turkey's first astronaut, Alper Gezeravcı, who spent 18 days aboard the International Space Station and conducted 13 experiments. The head of Northern Cyprus thanked the astronaut for the photos of Cyprus taken from the ISS.
During the conversation with the astronaut, Ersin Tatar emphasized that the TRNC is closely following space research and is proud of Turkey's achievements.
"Space research opens the way for major projects. I hope we will take our place in the major projects carried out by Turkey," said the head of Northern Cyprus.
On behalf of the Turkish Cypriots, the head of Northern Cyprus congratulated Alper Gezeravcı on his achievements and wished him further success.
Ersin Tatar added that he was deeply touched and proud when he saw the photos of Cyprus from space, taken by the astronaut from the ISS, as these images once again demonstrate the importance of Cyprus to Turkey.
The President of the TRNC also noted that the Republic of Turkey always supports Turkish Cypriots and emphasized that the Turkish Armed Forces ensure security on land, at sea, and in the air.
It is worth mentioning that last week, the first Turkish astronaut, Alper Gezeravcı, shared photos of the island of Cyprus on his social media page, taken from the International Space Station.
