Turkish President Calls on the Turkic World to Take Responsibility for a Fair Resolution of the Cyprus Issue
During the opening of the 11th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan emphasized the importance of the Turkic world’s role in resolving the Cyprus issue fairly and reiterated his call for the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) to become a full member of the organization.
President Erdoğan stated, "The TRNC's presence here today as an honorary guest and observer member is a clear expression of the Turkic world’s solidarity with Turkish Cypriots. We hope the TRNC will soon take its place among us as a full member. The Turkic world has a duty to pursue a just solution for the Cyprus issue."
The 11th Summit of the Organization of Turkic States commenced on November 6 in Bishkek, under the theme "Strengthening the Turkic World: Economic Integration, Sustainable Development, a Digital Future, and Security for All." Leaders at the summit will discuss strategies to deepen multilateral cooperation within the organization.
The summit brings together leaders from the five member states – Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan – as well as the leaders of observer nations, including TRNC President Ersin Tatar.
