Relatives of a deceased man have staged a protest at the scene of a fatal traffic accident in Gemikonağı.

The protest action comes in response to an incident over the past weekend where a soldier from the Turkish Armed Forces was allegedly involved in a fatal accident. The relatives of the young man who lost his life are demanding that the authorities hold the drunk driver accountable.

According to reports from local media, the soldier responsible for the fatal accident has not yet been brought to trial. This has sparked anger and dissatisfaction among the family members of the deceased Navid Akbar. They insist on justice for the driver who collided with two individuals sitting on a bench.

In addition to their demands for accountability, Navid Akbar's family has appealed to the Embassy of Pakistan in Ankara for assistance in repatriating his body.

The tragic accident occurred during the night of June 15th. The vehicle driven by the Turkish soldier, Mehmet Eren Erdogan, veered off the road, striking a bench where two young men were seated. The car then crashed into a lighting pole before plunging approximately 3.5 meters into the sea.

Navid Akbar, one of the young men on the bench at the time of the accident, sustained severe injuries and was rushed to Chengiz Topel Hospital. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to multiple fractures and internal bleeding.

Investigations revealed that the driver was under the influence of alcohol during the accident. However, it is reported that he was released from custody and returned to his unit in the village of Doğancı. This development has fueled the spontaneous protest action.
