Fatal Accident in Gönyeli: Pedestrian Struck and Killed by a Car
This past weekend, Northern Cyprus witnessed another tragic road accident. In Gönyeli, a pedestrian was fatally hit by a car.

According to police reports, the accident occurred on Sunday evening around 5:50 PM, along the Nicosia–Güzelyurt main road, between the 2nd and 3rd kilometers.
The driver, a 33-year-old man traveling in the direction of Güzelyurt, struck 46-year-old Hüseyin Ulu, a resident of Alayköy village, near the Irmar store. Reports indicate that the pedestrian was crossing the road at an unauthorized location. Sadly, Hüseyin Ulu died at the scene before paramedics could arrive.
This incident brings the total number of road fatalities in Northern Cyprus to 49 since the beginning of the year.
