Travel Agency Employee in Kyrenia Arrested for Embezzling Client Funds
A travel agency employee in Kyrenia has been arrested for stealing money from clients meant for hotel bookings. The man is suspected of embezzling a total of 19 payments amounting to over one million Turkish lira.
According to the police, the arrested individual is a 38-year-old employee of a local travel agency. On May 2, the suspect allegedly received 76,935 TL from a client planning to stay at a hotel. However, the money never reached the hotel.
Further investigation revealed that between August 11, 2023, and June 24, 2024, the accused embezzled a total of 1,002,849 TL from 19 hotel bookings made through the agency.
The employee has been detained, and the investigation is ongoing.
