METU Northern Cyprus Students Concerned About Rising Tuition and Dormitory Fees
Students at the Middle East Technical University (METU) campus in Northern Cyprus are expressing concerns about the tuition and dormitory fees set for the 2024-2025 academic year. According to student estimates, expenses have increased by 150%.
Reported by Kibris Postasi, students have voiced that the hike in tuition fees from 130,000 to 325,000 Turkish lira significantly surpasses the consumer price index, placing a heavy financial burden on their families.
Students assert that this over 150% increase jeopardizes their right to education and presents challenges in continuing their studies.
In response to this issue, students are urging authorities to reconsider the pricing, especially during these economically challenging times. They are reaching out to all concerned parties for support in resolving the matter.
The students anticipate public support and hope to draw attention to their situation, emphasizing the need for a fair solution.
