Woman Remanded in Custody After Smuggling 2,500 MDMA Tablets into TRNC Hidden in Underwear
A woman appeared in court in Northern Cyprus after being detained at the Girne tourist port with a significant quantity of drugs. She reportedly concealed 2,500 MDMA tablets in her underwear.
The suspect, identified as Zeynep Erkahun, was stopped by the Anti-Narcotics and Smuggling Department during a routine inspection at the Girne tourist port on October 25 at around 5:15 PM. During the search, officers found approximately 2,500 blue and red tablets, suspected to be MDMA, hidden in her bra. The tablets were seized as evidence and sent for testing, and the woman was taken into custody.
Citing the ongoing investigation, the police requested that she remain in detention for an additional seven days. The judge granted this request.
